COMMUNITY SERVICE

Working Towards a Brighter Future

Community Service

The VFW knows how important community service is to America, with volunteerism benefiting education, the environment, health sciences and civic projects.

That’s why the VFW works closely with other national organizations, such as Boy Scouts of America, Citizen Corps, March of Dimes, and America’s Promise-The Alliance for Youth, among others. USO provides VFW members with additional opportunities to volunteer in their communities and give back to our troops and their families.

Locally, our post members volunteer with countless organizations giving hours upon hours of their time. In 2019 members donated 8361 community service hours and expenditures of $15,451.85.

To just name a few we have VFW members that volunteer with the following organizations:

  • Meals on Wheels

  • Operation Ward 57

  • Haven (women veterans transitional housing)

  • Doylestown Borough fishing Derby for Disabled Veterans

  • Shamrock Reins (horse therapy for military and first responders)

  • Bucks County Veterans Transportation

  • Bucks County Housing Group/Bucks County Food Pantry (housing and meal assistance for needy veterans and families)
